Chesterfield Exteriors: Big Houses, Real Prep

Chesterfield incorporated in 1988 and covers roughly 32 square miles with more than 47,000 residents, sitting about 25 minutes west of downtown St. Louis along I-64. Its housing reflects the era it was built in: predominantly newer construction on generous lots, with two-story elevations, tall gables, and long runs of trim that simply don't exist on the same scale in the county's older, inner-ring suburbs.

Bidding a Chesterfield exterior accurately means measuring what's actually up there — total elevation height, trim linear footage, gable area — rather than estimating from the ground. A house with a tall two-story entry and steep roof gables has significantly more painted surface than its footprint suggests, and a bid that doesn't account for that will either come in too low or require a change order once the crew is actually on site.

Painting Chesterfield's larger elevations properly requires real access equipment, not just an extension ladder. Second-story trim, tall gables, and steep grade changes around the foundation all need to be reached safely for prep to happen correctly. A crew that can't reach a surface safely will almost always cut corners on exactly the surfaces that fail first — which defeats the purpose of the repaint before it even starts.

Office parks and retail buildings here need exterior work scheduled around business hours as much as around weather, which is a different planning problem than a purely residential exterior repaint.
